Hi Dorothy,I'm on Hydroxy and MTX and it seems to be working for me at the moment.Smile I take two Hydroxy daily and 5mg of MTX once a week plus Folic acid.Havn't had much pain for quite a while now and havn't had the need to take other pain killers however I am experiencing some hair loss which is probably due to the MTX. I originally started on 15mg of MTX but came out in a rash so it was lowered to 7.5mg.When I saw the rheumy nurse a couple of weeks ago I mentioned the hair loss so the MTX dose was lowered again to the 5mg but I'm still seeing some hair loss. I know not everyone gets the hair loss,it varies from person to person.Did you have any side effects when you first started MTX? Brenda.x

Hi there,

I am on MTX too, I have been for years along with Hydrox, and Sulphasalazine, I too had some hair loss but it stabilised out after a time. I have my hair layered and it looks healthy enough. I'm on 15mg I have been on that dose since being diagnosed. I also had a rash but had to stop them for a week until the rash went and then re start at the lower dose and build up again. Hope you do well on your new tablets Dorothy and see a difference soon. Take care all. Lorna x Smile

Hello Dorothy I've been on 20mg Mtx for about five years and then had the Hydroxy added about three years ago it helped with the fatigue. I am still taking Naproxen with Tramadol and paracetamol. I hope it helps you in the same way.Brenda I also had problems with hair loss but it has settled. Glenys.

hi dorothy

can i just ask --are you taking co-codamol and paracetamol?
that sounds a bit odd as co codamol already has paracetamol inwith it.

i've been on naproxen for 2 years now along with hydroxychloroquinine/co codamol recently tried sulphasalzine --bad move--altho it did reduce the pain--waiting for next hosp appointment then will prob have MTX--like you very tired

altho poorly at the moment with tonsilitis so if that doesn't sort out soon things maybe put back

take care caz x

hi carol poor you, yes i take both but not at the same time,i did question that mix with my gp and consulant and as long as i dont use paracetomol at the same time as co-cods i can use both i dont use paras if i can help it but i get such an itch when i use co-cods it drives me up the wall but they work the best, so they let me use both, i have to work it to suit how i am at the time,i do keep asking if my mix is still ok when i see my gp as i do blood every month and visit him 3-4 days later, so it is on my notes, i might push that one a bit more with him.thanks for that didnt really think about it till now,ive been doing it for over a year
hope you feel better soon awful thing to have.Sad
must also say i am feeling good at the moment so hope mtx and hdroxy working, took a week so far so good,
